About Me

Adam Morton

Hi, I’m Adam Morton, a piano tuner and musician based in Durham, Ontario. I care deeply about helping pianos sound great and feel good to play. When I tune a piano, I take my time and focus on accuracy, touch, and overall playability so the instrument feels enjoyable every time you sit down.

I also teach piano to students of all ages. My lessons focus on solid fundamentals, musical expression, and building confidence at the keyboard. Whether a student is just starting, working toward a recital, or playing for fun, I tailor each lesson to their goals and learning style.

Music has always been a big part of my life, and I enjoy sharing that with others. My goal is simple: help you enjoy making music. Whether I’m tuning a piano or teaching a lesson, I bring a patient, thoughtful approach so you can play comfortably and keep improving.

If you want your piano to sound and play as best as possible, I’d be happy to help!

Frequently Asked Questions

Most pianos should be tuned every 6–12 months, depending on humidity changes and how frequently it’s played. Regular tuning keeps your piano stable and sounding its best.

A pitch raise is like priming a black wall that you need to paint white. You won't get the results you need after just one coat of paint, and the same applies to tuning pianos. If a piano is severely out of tune, a pitch raise is required to get it close to standard pitch, and then a second fine tuning is required beceause the strings will continue to stretch after the pitch raise.

I offer pitch raises as part of the "Encore Tuning" service. If your piano hasn’t been tuned in several years, it may need a multiple tunings to ensure proper string tension and stability.

I tune and service pianos throughout Durham Region and surrounding Ontario communities. Feel free to contact me to confirm if I travel to your area.

A standard tuning usually takes about 1.5 hours. I will also inspect and do basic cleaning of your piano prior to tuning. If additional repairs or adjustments are needed, I’ll let you know before starting.

Please remove items from the piano lid and clear some space around the instrument. I’ll handle the rest — no need to move or open anything beforehand.

I accept cash, e-transfer, and most major credit cards. Payment is due upon completion of the service.
